Adventure and character go hand in hand. For Ava, the 2026 Cub Scout of the Year, that means embracing the outdoors while learning life skills and making a positive impact in her pack, school, and community.
Ava is a Webelos in Cub Scouts Pack 919 in Casa Grande, beginning her journey as a Lion at age 5. Inspired by her father’s experiences in Scouting, she quickly developed a love for camping, hiking, and exploring the natural world.
“My favorite part about Scouting is probably the camping or the hiking because there's a lot of outdoor adventures where we see new animals like birds or even insects.”

From camping trips to community service, Ava has embraced opportunities to develop important life skills, including public speaking, fundraising, and community service, in addition to her outdoor adventures.
“Scouting isn't just for outdoor adventures. We learn cool life skills like knife safety, first aid, public speaking, how to do sales for fundraisers, and then we also do community volunteering like picking up trash.”

Living the Scout Oath and Law
By living the Scout Oath and Law, Ava demonstrates kindness, helpfulness, bravery, and trustworthiness in every part of her life.
“The Scout Oath and Law are things I use daily in Scouts and outside of Scouts, like at school… you can be kind to one of your friends if they get hurt or if somebody's sad that they don't have anybody to talk to.”
