No. Many volunteers are parents, alumni, or community members who are brand new to Scouting. Training and support are provided.
Volunteer opportunities range from one-time event support to ongoing leadership roles. We’ll help you find an opportunity that fits your schedule.
Yes. Safeguarding Youth training is required for all registered volunteers before submitting an adult application. Scouting America offers many training programs and resources designed to help volunteers feel confident and successful in their roles.
Yes. All adult volunteers, including merit badge counselors, must complete an Adult Application. The application includes consent for a background check. Safeguarding Youth training is required for all registered volunteers before submitting an adult application.
Absolutely. Many community members, alumni, and supporters volunteer because they believe in Scouting’s mission.
To become a Merit Badge Counselor, you must complete the standard Adult Application along with an additional Merit Badge Counselor Information form. Merit Badge Counselors serve as teachers and mentors, helping Scouts explore interests, develop skills, and complete merit badge requirements. .
