Four Eagle Scouts from Yuma’s Troop 8054 Make a Lasting Community Impact

Four members of Troop 8054 in Yuma County earn Eagle Scout honors, completing impactful service projects that benefit local nonprofits and strengthen their community.

Daniel K. of Yuma County has officially earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout after successfully passing his Eagle Board of Review. Daniel is a member of Scouting Arizona’s Troop 8054, chartered by Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church. He joins three fellow troop members—Cody Hill, Zach Holtry, and Tim Tolman—who also earned their Eagle Scout Award within the past year.

“Nationally, fewer than 2% of all participants in Scouting America attain the rank of Eagle Scout,” said Glen Moss, Charter Organization Representative for Troop 8054. “Having four Eagle Scouts in one year is an exceptional accomplishment and a testament to their dedication.” Moss added, “Troop 8054 is not only proud of these four Scouts for achieving the rank of Eagle, but also for the lasting impact their service projects will have on local nonprofits in the Yuma community.”

Previously known as Troop 54 prior to 2010, Troop 8054 has a proud history with 33 Eagle Scouts to its name.

To earn his Eagle rank, Daniel completed 82 merit badges and led a service project benefiting families affected by cancer. He created 100 care kits for children whose parents or caregivers are battling the disease. Each kit included a comfort blanket, toys, journals, writing supplies, informational literature, and a list of links to read-aloud books on cancer. The kits were donated to Onvida Health Services’ Cancer Center for distribution. One of the featured organizations in Daniel’s materials was Camp Kesem, a nonprofit with over 115 chapters—including one at the University of Arizona—that supports children through and beyond a parent’s cancer diagnosis.

The three other recent Eagle Scouts from Troop 8054 also made significant contributions:

  • Cody Hill organized a drive to collect and assemble hygiene kits for Crossroads Mission, providing essentials such as a comb, washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, razor, and shampoo. He also collected over 36 cases of bottled water for distribution to individuals in need.
  • Zach Holtry led a construction project at Saddles of Joy, a therapeutic riding organization. He designed and built a new wheelchair ramp, loading deck, stairs, and a shade structure, coordinating donations and volunteer support from local businesses.
  • Tim Tolman enhanced the Fine Arts area of the Children’s Museum of Yuma by designing and constructing a stage set complete with curtains and a theater marquee. He collaborated with the museum director, gathered materials from local businesses, and led a team of volunteers in building the project.

These four Scouts exemplify the values of leadership, service, and perseverance—and leave behind a legacy of impact across Yuma County.
