Our Shared Mission: Building Future Leaders
Scouting Arizona and local schools share a common goal—to develop young people into engaged, responsible, and capable citizens. Scouting complements the work of educators by providing hands-on learning experiences that instill leadership, teamwork, resilience, and a commitment to service. By partnering with schools, we can enhance the educational journey of students, helping them develop essential life skills that go beyond the classroom.
How Scouting Aligns with School Values and Outcomes
Scouting Arizona’s programs support schools in achieving their objectives by reinforcing key developmental pillars:
- Character Education: Scouting promotes honesty, integrity, and respect, reinforcing the values emphasized in school character-building initiatives.
- Academic Success & STEM: Our programs include STEM-based learning, problem-solving activities, and outdoor education, complementing school curricula and engaging students in experiential learning.
- Leadership & Citizenship: Scouting fosters leadership by teaching decision-making, public speaking, and responsibility, preparing students for future success in both school and life.
- Service & Community Engagement: Scouts engage in meaningful service projects, positively impacting schools and local neighborhoods while fostering a culture of giving back.
- Physical & Mental Well-being: With an emphasis on outdoor activities, teamwork, and personal resilience, Scouting contributes to students’ overall physical and emotional well-being.

Why Schools Benefit from a Partnership with Scouting Arizona
By working together, schools and Scouting Arizona can create more opportunities for students to thrive. Our partnership benefits schools by:
Providing Structured, Values-Based Enrichment: Scouting activities support social-emotional learning and reinforce positive behavior expectations.
Offering Leadership and Service Opportunities: Scouts are engaged in service projects that directly benefit schools, such as campus beautification, food drives, and tutoring initiatives.
Enhancing Parent & Community Involvement: Scouting fosters deeper parental engagement, strengthening school-family relationships.
Expanding Extracurricular Options: Schools can offer Scouting as an after-school program or extracurricular activity that enhances student engagement beyond the classroom.
How We Can Partner
Scouting Arizona is eager to collaborate with schools in a variety of ways:
Adopt-a-School Program: Scouts commit to ongoing service projects that directly benefit the school.
On-Campus Scouting Units: Establishing Cub Scout Packs and Scout Troops within schools provide structured, value–driven extracurricular engagement.
Joint Events & Programs: Schools and Scouting Arizona can work together on STEM nights, career days, and leadership workshops.
Service-Learning Projects: Schools can integrate Scouting service projects into their community engagement initiatives.
Scouting in Action
The Scouting Edge: A Study of Ethics and Character in America, conducted by Scouting America and the Harris Poll, explores the ethical values and character traits of Americans, highlighting key differences between those involved in Scouting and those who are not. The study found that while Americans report a gap between personal satisfaction and concerns about the world, they remain proud, hopeful, and unified by shared ideals like hard work, civic duty, and selflessness. Parents play a crucial role in instilling values, and reverence remains significant. Importantly, Scouts and alumni are widely perceived—by both themselves and others—as more ethical, moral, and civically engaged than non-Scouts. They are more likely to uphold American and personal values, practice religion, respect elders, volunteer, vote, and reject unethical behaviors. Overall, Scouting is seen as a powerful force for shaping character and leadership, contributing positively to individuals and society.
“Scouting has been a part of my life since I was a young boy, inspired by how much my father, Dr. Eugene Reeves, valued becoming an Eagle Scout in 1921. Today, I’m proud to pay it forward—as a leader and educator—helping to shape the responsible citizens and future leaders our world needs to thrive."
Professor A. Compton Reeves
