Celebrating 13 Years of Service Ranger Rick Brown Retires from Camp Raymond

For 13 years, campers, volunteers, and staff with Scouting Arizona, Grand Canyon Council arriving at Camp Raymond have likely crossed paths with Ranger Rick Brown. As he prepares for retirement, we at Scouting Arizona want to recognize and thank him for the years of dedication and service he has given to Camp Raymond and the Scouting community.

A camp ranger is often one of the first to arrive and the last to leave, helping keep camp operations running smoothly behind the scenes. Throughout his time at camp, Rick helped maintain facilities, supported weekend and summer camp programs, assisted volunteers and unit leaders, cared for camp property, and helped ensure Scouts had a safe and welcoming outdoor experience.

Whether preparing campsites, fixing equipment, helping with projects, supporting camp events, or lending a hand wherever needed, Rick became a familiar and dependable part of the Camp Raymond experience. Rangers play an important role in preserving camp traditions while helping create an environment where Scouts can learn, grow, and enjoy the outdoors.

On May 6, 2026, Rick was presented with a wooden plaque in recognition of his years of service, created by Scorpion Ridge, with a full house of Scouting Arizona cabinet and staff members in attendance to celebrate and thank him.

From the Scouting Arizona cabinet and staff team, we want to share this message of gratitude:

“Rick has poured countless hours into making Camp Raymond the most enjoyable camp it could be. His dedication, his hard work, and his servant's heart have shaped this place in ways that will last for generations. What has always stood out most is the way Rick led: grounded in the Scout Oath and Law every single day. He didn’t just know those values— he has lived them. He is kind, dependable, and a true example of what Scouting is all about.

Thank you, Rick, for everything you have given to this camp and to all of us who have been lucky enough to call it home. You have earned every bit of this retirement. We will miss you dearly!”

Rick’s hard work and dedication over the past 13 years helped make Camp Raymond a place where countless Scouts and families created lasting memories. We are grateful for the time, care, and commitment he gave to camp and to everyone who has visited over the years.

Congratulations, Ranger Rick, and thank you for your service to Camp Raymond and Scouting Arizona!
