Resilience, courage, and service define Sedona’s journey as the 2026 Scout of the Year. Her story exemplifies the power of perseverance and the impact one Scout can have on their community.
Sedona is an Eagle Scout from Troop 3054 in Mesa. At 12, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent emergency surgery, relearning how to walk, talk, and feed herself. Despite these obstacles, she discovered a love for archery at Camp Geronimo and adapted by training herself to shoot with her left hand after losing the use of her right hand in later surgery.
“My favorite part about scouting is undeniably scout camp. I teach archery there and it's amazing to see all the progress that the scouts go through and to be around other people who love adventure as much as I do.”
Sedona, Eagle Scout, Troop 3054
Sedona has served as the founding SPL of her troop, mentored new leaders, and inspired fellow Scouts. Her Eagle project organized a community event for children at Banner Desert Hospital, collecting toys and supplies for future patients. She has also volunteered with Hope Kids Arizona, Make-A-Wish, Tim Tebow Foundation, Autism Nation, and Banner Desert Hospital.
“The coolest thing I probably did was my Eagle project. I organized a community event with activities for kids and Disney characters… I delivered donations to a children's hospital in costume and visited the kids. That was really special to me because I've been there and wanted to give back.”

Living the Scout Oath and Law
Sedona uses the Scout Oath and Law as a daily guide, helping her reflect on her actions and focus on positive values.
“The Scout Oath and Law are guidelines for us to measure our actions by. We can change ourselves and follow the Scout Law and Oath to the best of our ability.”
