Scouts BSA Troop 41 of Phoenix, proudly chartered by American Legion Post 1, had an unforgettable weekend on April 25, 2026, during their exciting Verde River kayak trip and overnight stay at A4 Ranch at Southwestern Academy, a unique living history ranch experience.
The outing gave Scouts the chance to challenge themselves outdoors, strengthen friendships, and build confidence through adventure. From paddling along the scenic river to spending the night in a one-of-a-kind historic setting, the weekend was packed with fun, teamwork, and personal growth.
Scoutmaster, Brian Cook, shared his appreciation for all the Scouts and parents who attended and helped make the trip such a success.
“Our overnight accommodations were amazing,” he said. “The boys got in some swim time at the indoor pool and even caught some fish at the pond on site.”
Experiences like this are what make Scouting so valuable for young people. Outdoor adventures give Scouts the opportunity to develop leadership skills, practice responsibility, and create memories that stay with them for years to come. Cook praised the families and volunteers whose support helps make these opportunities possible for Troop 41.
The combination of outdoor adventure, fellowship, and relaxation made this a trip to remember for everyone involved. For those interested in learning more about the history of the ranch or making future reservations, visit https://a4ranch.org/
