In less than a year, Cub Scout Pack 3302 in Queen Creek has already made a meaningful impact—creating a space where youth can grow, explore, and build lasting friendships.
Chartered by American Legion Post 129 Duane Ellsworth, Pack 3302 is a Family Pack serving boys and girls in Grades K–5.
Led by Cubmaster Maggie Ricci, this brand-new pack was founded with a clear purpose: to give Scouts opportunities to learn by doing. From outdoor adventures to hands-on skill-building, everything is designed to help youth develop confidence. What sets Pack 3302 apart is its role as the only homeschool Cub Scout pack in the local area. Recognizing that many families needed a daytime option, the pack was built to support schedules while still delivering the full Scouting experience.
Scouts practice skills and then immediately apply them in real-world settings. Whether it’s preparing for outdoor challenges or learning about the environment, the goal is simple: learn it, then live it.
“There’s something special about those moments when the learning ‘clicks,’ and you can see a Scout realize, ‘I can do this.’”
Maggie Ricci, Cubmaster Pack 3302
One of the most memorable moments from the pack’s first year perfectly captures this philosophy. Early on, Scouts learned about desert hazards, including scorpions. Shortly after, they took those lessons into the field on a nighttime hike using UV flashlights.
What started as cautious exploration quickly turned into excitement as Scouts discovered glowing scorpions in their natural habitat—learning not just identification, but respect for wildlife. It was an example of how knowledge and experience come together in Scouting.
Even in its short time, Pack 3302 has already seen incredible growth in its Scouts. Through challenges, teamwork, and encouragement, youth are stepping outside their comfort zones and discovering what they’re capable of.
“Scouts are not only learning skills—they’re learning how to trust themselves and support each other.”
Maggie Ricci, Cubmaster Pack 3302
Service and stewardship are central to the pack’s mission. While still in its early stages, Pack 3302 is already planning meaningful ways to give back!
For families considering Scouting, Pack 3302 offers real-world experiences that build both skills and character with a strong parent-involved model. Starting a new pack is no small task, but Pack 3302 is already laying a strong foundation. With a focus on community, hands-on learning, and outdoor adventure!
