Mesa Troop 827 Explores Arizona’s Hidden Mining History

Troop 827, proudly supported by Hosanna Lutheran Church in the Mesa Unified Community, recently made history! The Scouts were invited to Ash Creek in Chrysotile, AZ, a site owned by Andrew Colburn, for a one-of-a-kind adventure.

The troop explored the Old Chrysotile Mine entrance, climbed the bandit lookout, and wandered through a ghost town, immersing themselves in the rich history of Arizona mining.

On top of that, the Scouts completed a 2-mile round-trip hike along Ash Creek, where waterfalls and fascinating geological formations made every step memorable.

Troop 827 holds the distinction of being the first Scout troop ever to set foot in this area, creating memories that will inspire their next adventure.
