On Saturday, February 7, 2026, Scouts from across Arizona came together for a day of impact, community, and service. On the first Saturday of February each year, the Grand Canyon Council unites youth and adult volunteers for the Scouting Day of Service—a council-wide celebration of service where Scouts tackle projects that meet real needs in neighborhoods, schools, parks, and communities.
This year, 395 Scouts and 241 adults dedicated their time, energy, and skills to meaningful service, completing over 1,034 hours and collecting nearly 16,000 pounds of food for those in need.
Scouting for Food remains a cornerstone of service in Arizona. Units including Troops 3546, 546, 10, 484, 747, 3747, 474, 531, 285, 526, 6, 828, and Packs 3, 380, 10, 126, 512, 524, 738, and 526 collected donations and delivered food to local pantries. Their efforts helped stock shelves for families in need, demonstrating the Scouts’ commitment to service and community support.
Scouts also took action to care for the natural world. Troop 653 led an environmental conservation project focused on removing invasive commonly called stinknet from a local park.
“This was our first visit to the park. Even locally, Scouting finds ways to bring new adventures. It was great to help remove an invasive plant that is not native to AZ."
Patrick Mullaney, Scout Parent, Troop 653
Scouts from Pack 522 completed an Adopt a School service project at Towne Meadows Elementary, focusing on beautifying a garden that had been overtaken by weeds. They worked together to clear the area and create a more welcoming space for students and staff.
Some Scouts focused on improving shared spaces in their neighborhoods. Pack 7354’s Wolf Cubs rolled up their sleeves to sand and prepare planter boxes at their elementary school, trimming bushes and clearing weeds along the way.
"It's nice to make this garden a better place for our whole school to enjoy."
George, Pack 7354
Meanwhile, Pack 108 partnered with the Arizona Foster Alliance to decorate and prepare birthday bags for children in foster care, spreading joy and care to those who need it most. Scouts also lent a hand to community organizations like the American Legion, where Troop 389 helped with cooking, running, cleaning, and welcoming guests at the Annual Pancake Breakfast.
“It’s just good being out in the community."
Jeremy Simon, Scoutmaster Troop 389
The 2026 Scouting Day of Service showcased how Scouts, working alongside adult volunteers, can create tangible change in their communities. Thank you to every Scout and adult who participated—Arizona communities are stronger because of you!
