From Classroom to Finish Line: ASU Hosts Multisport Merit Badge Clinic

Fifteen Scouts kick off the Multisport Merit Badge at ASU, combining classroom training with running, biking, and swimming as they prepare for an upcoming triathlon.

15 Scouts joined us at Arizona State University this September to kick off an incredible new adventure, the Multisport Merit Badge Clinic, presented by Scouting Arizona in partnership with ASU Triathletes and the USA Triathlon Foundation.

This is not your typical classroom badge. The Multisport Merit Badge challenges Scouts to train like athletes, test their limits, and ultimately cross the finish line in a real triathlon event.

Multisport combines running, biking, and swimming into one endurance experience, helping Scouts level up from individual sports to dynamic, multi-discipline challenges. Whether you’ve earned the Swimming, Cycling, Athletics, or Personal Fitness merit badges, or just want to try something new, this badge will push you further than ever before.

The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on training, with Scouts applying what they’ve learned to complete a locally hosted triathlon. Participants are also following a four-week training plan to prepare for the race.

The first classroom session was held on Saturday, September 6, and the second took place on September 27, both at the ASU Tempe campus. The energy, teamwork, and excitement from these sessions were truly inspiring.

🏁 Next up: the triathlon!
Scouts will put their training to the test at one of two race options:

  • Saturday, October 25, 2025, Florence, AZ
  • Saturday, December 13, 2025, Anthem, AZ

Stay tuned to see our Scouts in action as they earn this unique and challenging new merit badge.
