Colin F. Campbell Receives Distinguished Council Alumnus Award

On August 21, 2025, Scouting Arizona, Grand Canyon Council Alumni Association proudly presented Colin F. Campbell with the Distinguished Council Alumnus Award.
This award honors individuals who have achieved prominence in their profession or community while living out the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Colin’s Scouting journey began with Troop 147 at St. Theresa’s Parish, where he served as Scoutmaster, merit badge counselor, and Charter Organization Representative. He also helped establish the first Law Exploring Post in Grand Canyon Council. His service to Catholic Scouting earned him the St. George Emblem from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting and the Bronze Pelican Award from the Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Committee on Scouting.

Academically, Colin distinguished himself as a Clarian DeWitt Hardy Scholar at Northwestern University and as Executive Editor of the Law Review at the University of Arizona’s Rogers College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude. He was admitted to practice before the Arizona Supreme Court, U.S. Supreme Court, Hopi Tribal Court, U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Fourth and Ninth Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts of Arizona and Colorado.

Professionally, Colin’s career in law and public service has been exceptional. After 12 years in private practice, he was appointed to the Maricopa County Superior Court, where he served for 17 years on civil, criminal, juvenile, and family assignments. He later became Presiding Criminal Judge and then Presiding Judge, overseeing one of the largest trial courts in the nation. His leadership was recognized with both the Arizona Judicial Branch Achievement Award and an Arizona Supreme Court Award for his role in reorganizing and consolidating the Superior Court.
Returning to private practice, Colin has continued to be recognized among Arizona’s top attorneys. He has taught as an adjunct professor at two law schools, published in respected legal journals, and served on numerous boards including the Arizona Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee, Arizona Judicial College, Arizona Bar Foundation, and the State Bar of Arizona Committee on Professional Rules of Conduct.
Throughout his career, Colin has exemplified integrity, leadership, and service — values deeply rooted in Scouting. His achievements bring honor not only to his profession but also to the Scouting movement that shaped his early years.
The Grand Canyon Council is proud to recognize Colin F. Campbell as a Distinguished Council Alumnus. Congratulations, Colin — and thank you for inspiring us all.
